Opening Reception: February 7, 5-8pm
Gallery One features two local art stars working in painting and mixed media. Not only are they both artists and friends, but Sam and Billy also make music together. Their fresh approaches to their craft and appreciation of nature, community and rural living is evident in their works.
Sam Albright has had a lifelong exploration of the arts from painting and sculpture to writing and playing music, to making some of the instruments he plays. He grew up in the Pacific Northwest where his home was filled with creativity, support paper and paint, wood and access to tools of all kinds.
Billy Mac Maguire studied fine arts at CWU in the seventies with an emphasis on drawing and painting. For the past few years he has been creating found object assemblages. Billy tells stories thought his work with paint and unique materials. He likes the idea of re-purposing objects that otherwise might get tossed out. His most recent work focuses on ravens and crows who, like us, gather shiny and assorted odd objects to make our art.
