Visitor Services Assistant

Gallery One is looking for a Visitor Services Assistant to join the team. Priority will be given to applications received by April 1, 2024.

Purpose of Position
The Visitor Services Assistant plays a key role in the community as the first point of contact with community members and guests at the front desk of Gallery One. The position will report to the Operations Manager, support the Gift Shop, special events, and provide general administrative support for the organization.

Assignment
Beginning immediately, this position is scheduled to work primarily at Gallery One’s front desk .5 FTE (20 hours) non-exempt. Must be available weekends and evenings.

Education
High school diploma or relevant work experience

Preferred Experience
Sales and customer service
Working knowledge of a variety art mediums

Proficiency in technology
Microsoft 365, Google, Shopify

Duties and Responsibilities
Provide quality experiences. Utilize excellent guest service and retail skills to proactively assist guests in a pleasant and positive manner. Maintain a thorough knowledge of inventory, Gallery One operations, membership, and policies to aid guests with purchasing needs.

Support Gift Shop operations. Perform select operations including art sales, handling original works of art, packing and shipping, hanging art, filing and database–related tasks, communicating with artists. Restock merchandise and supply areas, clean and arrange displays as instructed. Maintain accurate cash till balance. Assist with tagging and flow of merchandise as needed. Assist with the annual inventory. Other duties as assigned. Assist other staff with daily duties, special projects and events, and manage office and building supplies inventory.

Advocate for community through the power of art. Act as an ambassador for Gallery One and foster its goals while at the front desk and during gallery events.

Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move 50 pounds occasionally. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity equipment, including copy machine, computer printer, basic carpentry tools such as drills, hammer, and ladders.
