Gallery One is looking for a Gallery Assistant to join their team.
This position is a key member of the front desk team at Gallery One and responsible for the first point of entry for community members and visitors. This position will report to the Retail and Events Manager and support the Gift Shop, special events, and provide general administrative support for the organization.
Provide quality visitor experience. Utilize excellent visitor service and retail skills to proactively assist visitors in a pleasant and positive manner. Maintain a thorough knowledge of inventory, the Gallery, membership, and shop policies to aid customers with purchasing needs.
Support Gift Shop operations. Be able to perform select operations – including, but not limited to: art sales, handling original works of art, packing and shipping, hanging art, filing and database related tasks, communicating with artists. Restock merchandise and supply areas, clean and arrange displays as instructed. Maintain accurate cash till balance. Assist with tagging and flow of merchandise as needed. Assist with the annual inventory.
Support team as a whole. Manage office and building supplies inventory. Assist other staff with daily duties and special projects and events when needed. Perform other duties as assigned.
Demonstrate proficiency in the technology required to execute assignments including Shopify, Point of Sale system, Google Docs, etc. Will train the right candidate.
Advocate the power of art to create community. Act as a goodwill ambassador for Gallery One and foster its goals in all public aspects from the front desk and customer sales to customer support, artist studio rents, and customer recordkeeping.
High school diploma or similar experience.
Experience in sales, customer service, and proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
- 20 hours/week (must be available weekends and some evenings)
- Non-exempt position
- Option for some work at home and flex hours
- Compensation: $17-19/hr

Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move 25 pounds occasionally. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as copy machine, and computer printer as well as basic carpentry tools such as drills, hammer, ladders.
