Creating a pine needle basket is quite a process. First there is the hunt for those perfect Ellensburg Ponderosa Pine needles. The method of gathering needles, sorting and preparing them makes each basket a fun adventure with a lot of work mixed in. Sweetgrass from my garden is also used in my baskets which gives the basket a delightful, fresh aroma. Additional materials are gathered for embellishments such as agate centers, beads, threads, and black walnut slices (of course from Ellensburg Black Walnut trees). Finally, there is the craftsmanship involved in coiling each basket which results in a one of a kind effort with no two baskets alike! Each basket exhibits a unique handmade product and a labor of love!
