Focus on learning to throw on the wheel for the first time or develop your skills if you have experience. All skill levels welcome. Ages 14+
Kathy Guss has been an active studio artist since graduating from UW Whitewater in 1995 with a BSE in Art Education. In Tennessee, she participated in an arts outreach program with local elementary schools and taught dozens of classes and workshops at the Appalachian Center for Crafts. Kathy also taught workshops around the country at places like Kent University and Pewabic Pottery in Detroit. She was an adjunct instructor in ceramics at Virginia Commonwealth University and she ran a ceramics program at Crooked Tree Arts Center in Michigan. Some of the venues at which she has exhibited include Baylor University in Texas, Lincoln Arts in California, Native Soil in Chicago and Lancaster Museum of Art in Pennsylvania. Kathy has been a resident artist at Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts in Maine and at Red Lodge Clay Center in Montana. She also spent four months working and researching at the Center for Ceramics in Berlin and at Guldagergaard in Denmark. She fires her porcelain pots and sculpture in the two wood kilns she helped build at her home studio in Ellensburg. Some of Kathy’s pieces are currently exhibited at Trackside in Spokane and Good Earth Pottery in Bellingham.
