Join experienced silversmith and jewelry designer Maria Langer for an intensive 4-hour class all about silversmithing. You’ll work with real sterling silver and various silversmithing equipment to create at least two pieces of jewelry that are ready to wear or give as gifts. Skills you’ll learn:

  • Designing jewelry pieces including earrings, bracelets, and pendants.
  • Texturing silver sheet with a rolling mill, hammers, and stamps.
  • Cutting silver with French shears and a disc cutter. (Maria will also demonstrate the use of a jeweler’s saw and a metal shear.)
  • Smoothing cut edges.
  • Doming metal using dapping blocks.
  • Making and using jump rings.
  • Making ear wires.

Materials fee of $75/person includes sterling silver sheet and wire for making project pieces and use of all tools.

Ages 18 and up are welcome.

Please register at least 72 hours in advance. Classes may be canceled if enrollment minimums are not met. Cost is per student.
