Explore the visual language of composition, value and color with the most versatile and expressive painting medium. After a quick overview of basic materials, techniques and a bit of history, we’ll dive right into the paint. Suitable for all levels.
This workshop is being held in person. Ages 14 and up welcome.

Material List:
- 2 or 3 Small gessoed panels or canvas pad for oils (small… nothing over 8” max)
- Oil Paints – any brand – Jerrol’s has fine paints Titanium White Ivory Black Raw Umber Yellow Ochre Hansa Yellow light or Cadmium Yellow light Cadmium Red Light Alizarin Crimson Ultramarine Blue Cobalt Teal
- A small pallet to mix on.
- Wood, plastic, glass or a paper pallet pad
- Brushes: Flats or Filberts – Bristle and synthetic of various sizes Small to medium round synthetic (nylon or whatever they call it)
- Linseed Oil: If you don’t have any I’ll have some extra Gamsol (odorless mineral spirits) in a sealed container
- Extras: Tablet for notes and sketches, pencils, charcoal, eraser
If you don’t have everything to start, don’t worry, just bring what you have.
