Jiggs Bement

photographer, painter, sculptor | instagram

Jiggs Bement has always been inspired by the way objects hold memories and can invoke emotions. As an extremely sentimental person, specific places, objects, etc. can hold a significant amount of meaning. Using objects with heavy symbolism, whether it be personal or generalized, in her artwork allows her to preserve those sentimental items as well as explore the deeper emotional ties and memories associated with them.

While mainly working with photography, painting, and sculpture, Jiggs likes to explore and learn as many different techniques and art mediums as possible. Creating sculptures that combine many different mediums and techniques is also a way she has found to add layers of meaning and symbolism to the finished pieces.

Born and raised in a small town in the Pacific Northwest, the themes and emotions she explores through her art vary from escapism through fantasy to the aftermath of generational and childhood trauma. But her main goal in all of her pieces is to create something beautiful, interesting, and at least a tad mysterious.
