Inside Out and New March Exhibitions
Opening Reception: Friday, March 6 | 5–7 PM | First Friday Art Walk
Ellensburg, WA — Gallery One Visual Arts Center invites the community and visitors from across the region to join us on Friday, March 6, from 5–7 PM for the opening reception of our March exhibitions, presented as part of downtown Ellensburg’s First Friday ArtWalk.
The main gallery and mezzanine will feature Inside Out, a powerful exhibition exploring incarceration and its impact on individuals and communities. The exhibit brings together work by Pyth, Buddy Bunting, Henry Frank, Peter Merts, and Cedar Annenkova — artists whose perspectives range from lived experience to close proximity and critical reflection. Through painting, sculpture, mixed media, and conceptual work, Inside Out invites viewers into a nuanced and human-centered conversation about justice, accountability, and shared humanity.
In the Eveleth Green Gallery, Gallery One presents Birds, a luminous collection of watercolor paintings by Chen Lin. These works celebrate the elegance and vitality of avian life through delicate brushwork and vibrant color, offering a contemplative counterpoint to the themes explored in the main gallery. The Community Gallery will showcase artwork by students from Morgan Middle School, highlighting the creativity and emerging voices of Ellensburg’s young artists. In The Hall, the CWU Art + Design Club, curated by Gloria Nesse, will present a dynamic selection of student work reflecting the innovation and experimentation happening within Central Washington University’s creative community.
Together, these exhibitions embody Gallery One’s mission to foster the creation, exhibition, and appreciation of the visual arts in Central Washington. From nationally recognized artists to local students, the March lineup reflects the breadth of artistic expression thriving in our region.
The opening reception on March 6 is free and open to the public. Guests are encouraged to explore all gallery spaces, meet artists, and enjoy an evening of art in downtown Ellensburg.
Gallery One is located at 408 N. Pearl Street, Ellensburg, WA.
