My technique started with scanning painted sketches (not paintings), mostly abstract, using Photoshop to manipulate them as with my “cut-ups.” I also work without scanning using the drawing and painting tools in Photoshop on elements from past print sketches. I print the results using a high quality inkjet printer.
I have recently discovered the process works both ways. My “direct” painting (which I never abandoned) is influenced by my Photoshop manipulations. I sketch first graphically and then paint.
