Gallery One Visual Art Center Presents Internationally Acclaimed Artist, Innovator, and Composer Trimpin

[Ellensburg, WA] – Gallery One Visual Art Center is proud to announce Scores, Sketches, and Contraptions, an exhibition featuring the innovative artist, inventor and composer, Trimpin, June 14 to July 20 at Gallery One with an opening reception on July 5, 5pm-7pm. Spanning all three stories of the historic Stewart building in downtown Ellensburg, this exhibition will showcase Trimpin’s extraordinary work, which seamlessly blends sculpture, sound, and technology. The exhibit is sponsored by the Ellensburg Arts Commission and Central Washington University.

Prior to the exhibit, Central Washington University will host The Sound of Invention, a feature documentary film about the life and work of Trimpin, produced and directed by Peter Esmonde on April 17 at the SURC Theatre at 5pm. The film premiered at the South by Southwest Film Festival in Austin, Texas, in March 2009, and went on to screen at prestigious film festivals around the world, including New York, London, Toronto, Barcelona, São Paulo, Buenos Aires, Vancouver, Dublin, Goteborg, Oslo, and New Zealand.

Trimpin is a globally recognized artist, renowned for his groundbreaking fusion of art and technology. His work has earned him numerous awards and accolades, including a prestigious MacArthur Fellowship. Trimpin’s influence on contemporary art is profound, and his ability to blur the lines between art, music, and engineering has set him apart as a true visionary in the field. His work can be found worldwide but regionally found at the Seattle Tacoma International Airport, Museum of Pop Culture and in his storeroom and studio in nearby Tieton where he recently relocated.

Visitors to the exhibition can expect to be captivated and inspired by Trimpin’s unique creations, which push the boundaries of artistic innovation. The exhibition will feature a diverse range of works, highlighting Trimpin’s ability to bridge different disciplines and create a unique and immersive experiences for viewers.

“Trimpin’s work not only spans different disciplines, it also reaches across the boundaries of multiple cultures. His work is the manifestation of playful curiosity, keen observations about the world that surrounds us, and always, good humor. It’s a true delight to have this opportunity,” says Monica Miller, Executive Director.

In addition to showcasing his work, Trimpin has offered to collaborate with various groups during his time at Gallery One. For example, Trimpin has invited Central Washington University students to curate his visual compositions, providing them with access to his entire storage and collection located in Tieton. Together, they will select the works to be displayed on the mezzanine level, offering students a unique opportunity to engage with his artistry up close.
