Main, Mezzanine & Eveleth Green Gallery:
Kittitas County Open Show
Juried by Nikki Todd, Vision’s West Gallery

Gallery One’s 2019 Kittitas County Open Show will showcase 88 artists from Kittitas County. Started by founding director Eveleth Green, this exhibit is meant to celebrate the artistic works of the region. Previously artists were not guaranteed to be selected for the exhibit. “What we heard from artists was that they didn’t feel encouraged about their artwork when they weren’t selected for a show that was traditionally meant to support the artists, not deflate them. That’s not what we’re about,” Monica Miller, Executive Director. Our juror will still help select the art and the awards, but every artist who entered will have at least one piece in the exhibit. This year’s juror is owner and curator of Visions West of Montana, Wyoming, and Colorado. Awards total $3500 including a purchase award from the City of Ellensburg for a piece valued at up to $1,000. Other awards include a $500 Eveleth Green Award and $400 Mary Frances Award, both named after former directors. Two newer awards include the Innovative Art Award and the Military Veteran Award each for $250.

Hallway Gallery:
Artists of Elmview

Parents and community advocates founded Elmview in 1965 to ensure that people with disabilities could remain in their communities.  Through the years, the organization has grown, but their core purpose remains the same.  Elmview assists people to live full and productive lives in their communities. Many of the Elmview clients attend Gallery One’s Wednesday Workshop. These classes taught by Justin Gibbens and Will Bow have helped them to explore and realize their artistic side. See some of their works on display this July. Some of the artists will also be on hand at Gallery One during the Kittitas County Studio Tour.
