Jane McGehee
Kim Matthews Wheaton

Exhibition Dates: Jan. 19 - Feb. 28, 2009
Opening Receptions: Friday, Feb. 6 from 5-7 p.m.

The first exhibition of 2009 at Gallery One Visual Arts Center features the works of Jane McGehee and Kim Matthews Wheaton, two established Northwest landscape painters.

McGehee’s works are influenced by rain and the effect it has on landscape, lighting, coloring and a place's mood. On a trip to Africa, she experienced the value and importance of rain in a community, and it has been on her mind and in her work ever since.

Kim Matthews Wheaton’s inspiration comes from the images and pallette of her own backyard—the wide rolling expanses and dramatic vertical coulees of the Columbia Plateau country. Her paintings are bold and expressive, capturing the landscape in crisp detail and vivid color.
