July 7th 8:00 pm Gallery One hosts David Bavas, a Seattle based singer-songwriter originally from the Pennsylvania foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. His enchanting music is influenced by contemporary artists like Cat Power, Will Oldham and Richard Buckner, but remains fused with the craggy, country elements of his upbringing. Bavas says he is drawn to songwriting because "it's all about telling stories with music.” According to Bavas “a well written song is like a novel's worth of entertainment in three minutes.”

Bavas has been labeled everything from folk to alt-country but remains true to the singer-songwriter sensibilities. Bavas will be joined by members of his band, the Down Comforter, Travis Hartnett on guitar and Bob Congleton on bass. For more information on the band or to hear some of their music go to: www.davidbavas.com

Performing with them will be a local favorite Dog Town, comprised of musicians Sam Albright, Leah Shelton, Scott Robinson, Elizabeth Stewart, and Corey Dosch. Their vocal- oriented music consists of original songs and more obscure covers. With rhythmic acoustic sounds, accompanied by harmonized vocals and Galley One’s baby grand piano, their performance should not be missed.

Both performances are free with a $5 suggested donation for the bands.
