This career development seminar presents essential information on launching and sustaining a career with emphasis put on available resources; resume formatting; slide and portfolio preparation and presentation; appropriate marketing venues and building name recognition; how and where to contact fine art galleries, municipal spaces, commercial and industrial design firms; screening juried competitions; support groups and services; grants, fellowships and sponsorships; consignment, exclusive and commission contracts; wholesale and retail legal requirements; avoiding pitfalls; and much more. Numerous supplemental handouts and printed materials are provided. Learn how to balance good business practices with your studio work. This seminar will conclude with a mini portfolio review, from the prospective of a curator & juror.

Lee Musgrave is Curator of Contemporary Art at Maryhill Museum of Art. His own paintings have been shown in over forty solo and group exhibits and have been acknowledged with numerous awards, including a National Endowment for the Arts fellowship for painting.
