Mary Diefenbach Duke

Mary Duke is a lifelong artist and maker currently exploring abstract expressionism. Using a variety of surfaces and painting mediums – acrylic, watercolor, cold wax and oil, she enjoys using color, shape, texture and collage to bring her artistic visions to the painting surface. The challenge and thrill of finding a way to express an idea, a feeling, or perhaps a struggle, then converting that sensation into a work of art that ultimately is pleasing to look at, is extremely gratifying to Mary’s spirit. A new day spent creating propels her forward in the journey to risk, learn, and explore how to employ new techniques. She loves to share the resulting art with her viewers and hopes that they can find their own “Story” represented in her work. Mary’s art has been shown at numerous invitational shows at Gallery One in Ellensburg, Wa.; she was a working artist during Paint Ellensburg, and regularly donates her art to the auction; she was selected to participate in a juried show held at the Confluence Gallery in Twisp, Wa.; and has numerous pieces displayed at The Wa. State Department of Ecology Building in Union Gap, Wa. Her art is in numerous private collections. In addition, it has been her pleasure to serve as an educator, and enthusiastic volunteer at Gallery One; the Blue Sky Artist Guild in Monroe, Wa., and shares her love of art with her Joyful Creating Group at her studio. Mary Duke resides in the Kittitas Valley near Ellensburg, Washington.
